Vision

A unique and immersive cultural experience.

A Living Collection

Geelong HAUS is a public art gallery and project space, made unique through the conveniently neighbouring family residence that holds its own collection, frequently made available to the guests of Geelong HAUS through house tours. It is the realisation of founders of Geelong HAUS, Vic and Peter Hope, to make both Geelong HAUS’s art genuinely accessible to the public and to provide a unique experience where contemporary Australian art is placed at the centre of everyday life.

Geelong HAUS’s collection will be housed in a gallery building alongside a project space and operational commercial kitchen. Adjacent from the public art gallery sits the Hope’s private residence which contains further works. It is from here that house tours are provided, offering visitors of Geelong HAUS an intimate encounter in a genuinely lived-in environment.

Geelong HAUS celebrates contemporary Australian art, community engagement and cultural enrichment from the City of Greater Geelong — contributing to Geelong's identity as a clever, creative and internationally connected city.

Peter and Vic Hope, the founders of Geelong HAUS, have been actively collecting contemporary Australian art since the early 1990s. The collection has grown to over 190 works, with acquisition continuing.
